Taking the SNAP Challenge

Starting Thursday, November 6th 2013 I will be partaking in the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Challenge. Following the rules outlined by Feeding America, I will be spending no more than $4.50 on food per day, totaling $31.50 for the entire week.

SNAP, commonly known as Food Stamps, provides money to low-income families for groceries. The limited food budget per meal per person is was comparable to $1.50, before the government cut funding. The current level of assistance allots for a mere $1.40 per meal per person.

I'm on a mission to try and understand the situation for those not fortunate enough to have  the same access to food that I am accustomed to. I invite you to follow along and join in the discussion on hunger in America.
